365Werk

How does online employment agency 365Werk remain distinctive? “Through our combination of customer focus, innovation and good employment practices,” says Lead Product Manager Michiel Dijkstra. “To perform as well as possible in these areas, we need to be certain that the IDs and Right to Work of our flex workers are in order. DataChecker offers this certainty.”

“We have been innovative since our foundation,” says Michiel. “At that time, twelve years ago, there were hardly any employment agencies that provided their services online – let alone exclusively online, as we do. Since then, competitors have increasingly focused on the internet. So that is no longer special. But because we continue to innovate in a customer-oriented manner, we are still at the forefront of online services.” One such innovation is the in-house developed and continuously refined FLEX app for flex workers. “They can easily access almost everything in it: from registration to payment.”

THE GROWTH

When Michiel started at 365Werk in 2019, he had about fifteen colleagues and the company had a turnover of 15 million euros. Sixty people now work there and the turnover has reached 100 million. “Quite a growth”, he says with a laugh. “Yet our organization has remained the same at its core. We are an accessible company that wants the best for our customers and flex workers. That is why we do more than just temporary employment and payroll. Our basis is good employment. For example, we ensure that our flex workers have good pensions. And where necessary, we offer them guidance in their professional development.”

THE CHALLENGE

“With these major new clients, the number of flex workers has increased by thousands,” says Michiel. “The same applies to the number of nationalities in our database. There are now around 160 – more than ever.” This growth makes checking IDs and Right to Work extra challenging. “You need to know the latest laws and regulations per nationality. And you need to be able to assess both ID and employment documents for authenticity – including those from lesser-known countries, which have their own design and security features. That is a profession in itself; one for which we really need an expert.”

That expert has been DataChecker since early 2024. “At first only for the Right to Work check,” says Michiel, “because we initially worked with another party for ID checks. They always carried out this check super fast, mainly thanks to an AI application. Fast speed is important: employers want to deploy people at short notice, flexible workers want to get started as soon as possible. But speed should never be at the expense of care. And although this did not happen with us either, we did start to run a risk with that inspector. DataChecker showed that they were a fast and accurate alternative for IDs.”

For every thousand potential employees, an additional one hundred people successfully pass the ID and Right-to-Work checks each month.

THE IMPACT

“Michiel is not only pleased with the implementation, but also with the advisory power of DataChecker. “For example, on their recommendation, we have placed a web viewer in our FLEX app. Previously, users had to upload documents via an external portal, which resulted in a significant number of users dropping out. Now it seems to them as if everything happens within the app, while DataChecker performs the checks in the background. This innovative approach has greatly improved the user experience of app owners and contributed to a higher conversion.”

Michiel enthusiastically tells how the conversion for flex workers for large clients even increased by 10 percent. “For every thousand potential employees, a hundred extra people successfully pass the ID and Right-to-Work checks every month.” He expects that conversion to increase even further. “For example, DataChecker is now working on a customized flow for people who cannot take good photos for ID photo verification because of their outdated phone. Specific instructions will prevent them from getting stuck.”

THE FUTURE

“Thanks to DataChecker, we know for sure that our flex workers are allowed to work in the Netherlands, that their IDs are valid and that they are actually the persons stated in these documents. This is not only a legal obligation and an ethical responsibility, it is also a business necessity. Existing and new customers demand this certainty. The work of DataChecker is therefore indispensable for our increasing success – for our growth.”

Just as 365Werk is constantly looking for areas for improvement, it is also doing so at DataChecker. “The vast majority of people get through the check flow in one go. And that percentage is increasing every month. That’s great. But we are only 100% satisfied when no one gets stuck or drops out. It would also be great if that flow went even faster, without compromising accuracy. And if people could be checked 24/7, not just during DataChecker’s opening hours.”

THE COLLABORATION

Together with DataChecker, Michiel is looking at how these future ambitions can be realized. “Neither they nor we think it is a good idea to put checks completely in the hands of AI. But developments in the field of AI are moving so fast that further automation of checks seems possible soon – starting with Dutch ID cards. It is great that DataChecker is continuously investigating new technical possibilities to make check processes even more accurate and efficient.”

By using DataChecker’s expertise, 365Werk can focus more on its core business: connecting flex workers and customers. Michiel: “We not only see DataChecker as a very reliable party, but we also recognize our own focus on innovation and customer orientation. Based on that trust and this resonance, it is very pleasant to work together. The fact that they provide us with the best possible services helps us to guarantee quality to our customers. In this way, we build success together!”
