Meesman Index investing

Meesman Indexbeleggen was founded in 2005 and was the first to introduce index investing for private individuals to the Netherlands. A form of investing that objectively and measurably delivers the best results for users. Meesman does this without losing sight of its environment. For about 16 years, this company has made sustainable investing central to all its activities. Meesman also distinguishes itself by focusing on transparency and telling the honest story.

Shiva Bloemberg:

‘For us, open and honest communication essentially means telling a clear, distinct and accessible story. And especially the whole story, which also includes costs and risks. Not all investment services dare to tell openly and honestly that a portfolio can also decrease in value. Also with regard to costs: everything is communicated clearly and distinctly from the start. In a way that everyone can understand.’

In a rapidly changing world, it is a challenge for investment services to continue to comply with laws and regulations. Meesman is constantly working to be at the forefront. In the area of laws and regulations, but also with a view to technological developments.

Shiva Bloemberg:

‘We are constantly looking at new developments in the field of IT. That way we are always aware of relevant matters that suit us. That is something that is part of us, an ongoing process. We are intrinsically motivated to do the best for our customers. For example, we have a network of specialists in the legal field, compliance and KYC who keep us informed of the latest developments. Within our (relatively) small team, these kinds of themes are also discussed a lot.

Meesman uses DataChecker’s end-to-end solution for onboarding customers. A process that was done manually before the integration with DataChecker. Meesman strives for operational excellence and an optimal customer journey. That starts with onboarding new customers.

Shiva Bloemberg:

‘Before the integration with DataChecker, we asked a prospect to upload a copy of an ID. After the prospect had gone through the entire process, this information would then be sent to us. Only then could we check the information by opening each file. Then, some information even had to be manually retyped for administration.

In order to realize this optimal customer journey, Meesman chose to further professionalize and automate the onboarding process. The identification and verification process was an important part of this. But how do you choose a strategic partner for this process?

Shiva Bloemberg:

‘One of our colleagues within the team who monitors developments had come across DataChecker. Then you naturally look at what the service exactly entails and who else might offer a similar service. We are also required to perform an extensive Due Diligence investigation. From these perspectives, we chose DataChecker. A very practical consideration for choosing DataChecker was that DataChecker automatically performs a PEP and sanctions lists check. Essential in complying with the WWFT. We had to perform those checks ourselves for our integration, after the new customer had gone through the process. The feeling of partnership is also important to Meesman and we got that with DataChecker.’

Meesman has integrated the DataChecker solution into its own onboarding process. Testing has been the key to a smooth integration, which was easily implemented by Meesman.

Shiva Bloemberg:

‘When we went live, we saw from day 1 that the majority of new customers automatically entered our system. That is really great to see and an important contribution to the operational excellence that we strive for. The first results are very positive. The vast majority of all people automatically go through the onboarding process and can therefore become customers immediately. Without delay due to any checks afterwards.’

An onboarding process for financial institutions, such as Meesman, has multiple laws and regulations that it must comply with. The WWFT is an important part of this. With the verifications that are performed by DataChecker, Meesman complies with this legislation. How can you, as an organization, perform all checks thoroughly, without this being at the expense of speed, simplicity and user-friendliness?

Shiva Bloemberg:

‘We notice that the link with DataChecker actually contributes to a user-friendly process. For example, we can automatically fill in the data that DataChecker reads. That is why we brought the DataChecker link forward in the process, it is one of the very first steps. We make it easier for our customers and we save them time. These kinds of technological developments provide us with a top level in the field of user experience.

In summary, the integration with DataChecker means a major optimization step for Meesman. We minimize manual work and improve our user experience. We create scalability and keep the error sensitivity low. Our partnership is a next-level collaboration in the long term. There is a sense of togetherness and we communicate transparently and proactively.’
