Chain liability at carrier now safe with DataChecker’s ID Verification
Chain liability and the correct identification of (hired) personnel are also an issue for transport companies. In order to fully comply with legislation and regulations, a provider of transport services works with the Secure ID Link of DataChecker.
Chain liability plays an important role in large companies that work together with other organizations, such as subcontractors and employment agencies. DataChecker is the ideal party to check the identity of personnel safely and quickly in these situations. This is done successfully at, among others, a provider of transport services.
Carriers make extensive use of external companies in their operations. This requires careful control of the identity of all professionals who contribute to the success of companies in this sector. Especially because the laws and regulations set strict requirements regarding chain liability. This stems from the WKA (Chain Liability Act), part of the Collection Act. The WKA is a legal regulation to recover, among other things, unpaid payroll tax or premiums by a chain of contractors and subcontractors.
“Major step in chain liability”
Verifying identity in the chain used to be cumbersome, says one of the managers of a transport company that works with DataChecker: “Before we started working with DataChecker, subcontractors and their employees filled out a form and were included in our onboarding system. That was impractical and time-consuming. One of the additional challenges was that we did not have personal contact with employees in the recruitment process due to the use of subcontractors. We wanted to take a big step in our chain liability. That is why we have been working with DataChecker since mid-2022 to make the employee identity process more efficient and faster.”
As a SaaS organization, DataChecker is an authority in the market of identification and verification solutions based on employment documentation. Thanks in part to its in-house developed technology and trained document experts, DataChecker helps the carrier to assist with identification issues on a daily basis.
Right to Work Check runs flawlessly
The ‘Right to Work’ check by DataChecker runs flawlessly, the customer concludes: “We started with two parallel scenarios: both the file of many hundreds of employees was checked digitally by DataChecker in a secure manner, while new colleagues are checked directly by DataChecker on their identity via our recruitment department. With a smart system of colours, we see the result immediately: green means that the employee has a ‘Right to Work’ status. That saves us a lot of time and money.”
Secure verification via Secure ID Link
Mick Voogd, digital identity consultant at DataChecker, is closely involved in the collaboration with the carrier: “Within the solution we offer, the customer has access to our portal. From here, they can securely invite applicants or subcontractors to share their ID using the Secure ID Link.”
“With this technology, temporary staff can be verified remotely. Not only do we check identification and employment documents that have been provided via a secure environment, an ID Selfie is also used to check whether the person depicted on the identity document is the same person who provided his/her document. In combination with presence and deepfake detection, we offer a complete end-to-end verification solution,” says Voogd.
“Peace in the organization”
The transport company considers the relief the most important advantage of the collaboration with DataChecker: “The procedures are transparent and we see that DataChecker is very receptive to our suggestions to continuously improve the process. We now have much more insight into which professionals come to us. In addition, we are regularly surprised with innovations that DataChecker itself applies and offers in improving the identification process.”
